Snap - Crack - Pop

It is late, but I can not stand to see that my blog has not changed in such a long time. Honestly, Janyse and Beth I don't see how you do it. :)

The latest here is that we now have a wheelchair that is making camp in our home. You see, Thursday afternoon Dean fell from a tree across the street and broke his left femur. It was one trip to the Urgent Care via the Sienna, an ambulance ride to Evergreen Hospital to only be transported to Children's Hospital via ambulance.

That night we were admitted to a room and surgery planned for the 29th (thank goodness for Leap Year). The surgery was not until the next afternoon (I am really fast forwarding this story) and the pain was managed via good old fashion pain medication. The doctor's hammered two flexible rods from just above his knee to his hip. No cast, no wrappings, just little incision on both sides of the knee. I was impressed with the simplicity of it when you consider he broke the biggest and strongest bone in his body.

Dean is in a wheel chair for a few weeks and just starting to take about seven to twelve hops a day with a walker. In a few weeks he will graduate to crutches. The plan is to have the rods pulled out in late summer or early fall.

This afternoon he was released from the hospital and now mom and dad are working on getting a routine back again. So much love from family and friends in taking care of Reed who I think is feeling a little attention deprived. It was great to have the support of so many.

Dean is not sure if he will climb a tree again but does say he might go as far as the first branch. Reed is still climbing and puts mom on edge as we only need one broken bone at a time.

I figure a broken anything is par for the course and not all that odd with having two boys. Speaking of "boy" things to do...did I tell you about the rock Reed tossed towards the house that ended up breaking a window?

Yes, yes...I see the additional errors. Such comments do not encourage future posts. (I hope what I just wrote is written correctly).
The difference between going through something and threw something is a bit different...isn't it!

I'm sorry I'm not there to help out. A photo of this pathetic scenario would help my brain to absorb it all. And thanks to your editors, I fail to see any errors to speak of! G
