Recounting this past week nothing pops out as outstanding or news worthy. Is that sad? Perhaps it's a sign that I need to be more attentive to the world around me.
Dean, at 6 1/2 years old is growing up to be a great kid. He does very well with his reading and loves to do math problems that his mother has prepared for him on flash cards. He even has his own box to carry them in. The other day Reed wanted to know what was written on a piece of paper and he quickly handed it to Dean and said, "Here Dean, read this to me."
At the library the kids are able to select a book or two that they want to read. Dean has brought home a book full of knock-knock jokes. The first four or five were great to listen to and I did not mind asking the question, "Who's there?" However, this wore off faster than I imagined and now limit Dean to one (maybe two jokes) in one sitting. Needless to say he is doing a lot more silent reading.
This book is not as funny as the book that Reed brought home. A little background...Reed (and Dean) like to play games on pbskids.org when mom or dad are watching them. Reed at the library saw the letter P B S and selected that book. Well, the book is as big as the King James Bible and it is about the scandal that the PBS program is (books opinion). Reed likes to pretend that the book is great and even choose to fall asleep with it. It is a hoot to watch him pretend to have interest in the book when asked about it. The book has zero pictures and stacked full of text. I did get some new thoughts about PBS as the author was out to state the bad of PBS. Look for it at your local library before the next four year old grabs it!
This week I will be heading to court. I've been selected to serve my community and be on a jury. I have never been asked and interested in the process. They couldn't have found a courthouse farther for me to go to, Kent. More to come on this experience.
